The world of ceramics is constantly evolving and adapting to new market needs. Among these new trends, large size tiles stand out. A trend for which companies are developing new large-format porcelain lines focused on architecture and interior design professionals.
There are many advantages that we find when we install large tiles, since the installation time is optimized, it facilitates cleaning, the joint surface is eliminated, thus achieving a continuous surface without divisions and creating more width in the space.
For the correct placement of XXL tiles we advise you to follow the steps below:
Make sure the porcelain is not dull or scratched before you begin installation.
Prepare the surface where the tiles are to be laid, make sure the surface is clean, dry and flat.
For handling large size tiles, it is recommended to use a suction cup to facilitate movement.
Double bond with a notched trowel to both the substrate and the back of the ceramic tile. Then, with a rubber mallet, tap the tile gently to get the air out from underneath. For installation of these sizes, we recommend using leveling systems to achieve the desired flatness. In addition, you must use spacers for the separation joint between the tiles.
Use expansion joints if the surface requires it or is longer than 40 m 2 .
Allow the adhesive cement to set, then liquefy the gap between the pieces.
Clean the remains of the mounting materials from the surface with the help of a sponge and water.
